Interview Wardrobe Tips
Interview Wardrobe Tips
In a world of mashed up dress codes, or lack thereof, there’s the impending question on what to wear to an interview.
This is even more difficult when you’ve not worked in a professional work environment before, or, if it’s been a while.
The great news is that you can research a company from your phone and prepare from a technical perspective. You can also ask around and hopefully a friend of yours has a friend that works there so that you can learn about the culture and decide if that’s the place for you.
But, what do you wear to said interview?
The best guess is to dress your best. That doesn’t mean breaking the bank either. That means looking put together from head to toe.
AND, most of all, feeling put together.
How do you do this?
Just as you prepare questions to ask, prepare what you’re going to wear. Try it on, make sure it fits and look in the mirror to double check that you’re not missing a button or that your shirt is stained.
Here are a few questions to ask yourself:
Does it fit? (not too tight or loose)
Is it clean?
Is it pressed?
Does it need to be hemmed or fitted?
Are my shoes clean and/or polished?
Did I try on the entire outfit?
Do I feel confident?
Know that your confidence in your appearance goes a long way. Bet on the Law of Attraction here and the interviewer will pick up on your confidence to perform at the job and perform well.
The non-verbal ques of dressing well during an interview are critical. Planning goes a long way and can help secure that job.
